Residents witnessed substantial frozen pellets reaching sizes of 7cm in certain regions. Meteorological experts confirmed that different parts across the state had been hit with significant hail.

Victorian Climate Difficulties

State Emergency Services handled 598 calls for help across the state, mainly for building damage but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.

• Wyndham area - nearly 180 calls for assistance

At the height on yesterday, in excess of 28,000 energy customers in the state were without power.

Climate Outlook

Damp conditions were predicted to continue along much of eastern Queensland this next several days as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.

Tuesday was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent severe weather risk expected across different parts of both areas.

Safety Concern

Health officials cautioned that there was an greater possibility of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the countryside regions, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.

This warning comes after previous incidents where similar conditions led to major medical consequences in the region.
