It's a challenge for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The top summits have been successfully scaled.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a team that has won it all.

It needed until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the pitchers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's difficult for their batsmen to hold a record if not provided the opportunity.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to produce her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her debut and seven international trophies have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

If this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Certain people claim the reasoning behind final game tension. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was much more difficult to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this innings came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in training, it's been a challenging time because it appeared my form was missing completely," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit activate and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the opening delivery and from that point the right-hander was on her way.

"A chance to go out there and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

Once she was dismissed Australia required another 66 at run per delivery - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the confidence to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if necessary, we are confident we can succeed."

That comment will be the last Australia's opponents at this World Cup want to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will win from any position has only strengthened - this victory succeeding win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she later said she regretted not playing despite the injury.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is expected to be her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as skipper.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
