One extended voyage through the Land Down Under is being halted days after the tragic passing of an older female passenger who was left behind by the ship on a isolated tropical isle.

The passenger had been walking on the tropical location with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but broke off from the excursion for a break. The vessel left without her and returned later that day after the personnel discovered the woman was missing.

A major search operation located her body the next day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the tragedy, in coordination with law enforcement and the medical examiner.

Chief Executive of the cruise operator announced that guests and crew on the vessel were informed that the continuation of the journey had been cancelled due to the "unfortunate death and prior engine troubles".

Through an announcement, he added that guests would be issued a total repayment, and said the operator was working "to coordinate the travel back of the travelers via chartered flights".

Regulatory bodies also published an updated statement, and said they had "provided a directive to the Master" preventing any new passengers from boarding the vessel.

The spokesperson said that they would inspect the ship in the port city upon its coming back.

Timeline of Events

The vessel initially left the Australian port on 24 October, and was merely two days into the voyage at the point of the senior passenger's demise. Lizard Island was the opening port on the voyage.

Passengers on the vessel - who typically pay substantial amounts of dollars to take part in the voyage - were ferried there for a day trip with the possibility of walking or snorkelling.

Relatives Response

The daughter of the elderly passenger said that her family was "surprised and saddened that the vessel left Lizard Island after an planned outing without my parent".

Via her announcement, she characterized her mum as an "vigorous 80-year-old" who was a member of a hiking organization.

"According to scant facts we have been informed, it looks that there was a breakdown of attention and common sense," she stated.

She continued that she hoped the investigation would be able to identify what "the operator should have undertaken that might have preserved Mother's life".

"Based on information from the authorities that it was a very hot period, and she became unwell on the uphill trek," she explained.

"Officials suggested her to return, alone. Then the boat left, reportedly without doing a roll call.

"At a certain moment in that chain of events, or soon after, mum died, alone."

Company Position

Through an announcement, the CEO confirmed that the operator was "cooperating fully with officials to support their investigation".

He stated that the company was "deeply sorry that this has occurred" and had offered its full support to the relatives.

The vessel caters for up to a hundred twenty guests with nearly fifty staff, according to company information. It was specially constructed to reach remote regions of the Australian coastline and is equipped with "small boats" - compact vessels used to ferry travelers on shore trips.

Incidents of this nature are infrequent, and cruise ships have systems to document which travelers are embarking or disembarking, according to maritime specialists.

"Going ashore secretly or [back] aboard really isn't an option," a specialist stated.

Shipping companies regard these methods extremely carefully and have "sophisticated systems in place to stop such incidents from occurring," the authority added.
